Blaugust Retrospective - That's a lotta posting

I thought I'd have a bunch to say now that I've finished Blaugust with a 31/31 record, but honestly I'm just kind of knackered.

I think it was a good experience overall. I share a lot of the feeling VirtualMoose had about the stress of it, but on balance it had me thinking about posting as a proper hobby rather than simply something I do from time to time - I don't know that I want to keep that approach up, but it was very different.

A big motivation I had was that I would make my posts less lengthy and complicated, and to be entirely honest I did a bad job of that. I don't have solid stats or the motivation to find them now, but scanning filesizes they seem of a similar distribution. Looks like around 22,000 words overall, 10k in the first half, 12k in the second. I definitely fretted less about lacking links or images towards the end, so that's something?

Mostly though I'm a bit tired - the last week of Blaugust came during a very busy and stressful time at work, and to free up my weekend I got the last 3 posts done on the Friday with a beer in hand. It was the best way to do it, I think.

I'm not quite as rekt about it as VirtualMoose - I'll probably do it again next year, but I'll go into it with lower ambitions - not sure if that's less than daily posts, or just smaller posts. I failed at smaller this year, so might be worth a repeat. I initially was happy to have less posts but found the first week so enjoyable posting daily that I felt it made sense to keep it up.

There was a genuine sense of accomplishment on Friday when I finished drafting Sunday's Good Posts, and that's a feeling I'd like to hold onto.

I do have a doozy in the works, did something very silly this weekend and want to talk about it.

Anyway!

Blaugust is up, I hope you Blaugged well if you observe.
