10 Days of Blaugust

Just a quick retrospective on the first third of Blaugust - it's been interesting!

Laura had a post about people doing Blaugust, from the perspective of someone who's been doing daily posting for nearly a year now, and it was cool to see her put into words some things I'd been thinking about.

I started Blaugust with a 1-post buffer which I kept going until day 6 or 7 due to work getting busy. The psychological difference between "writing and posting in the same day" and "writing, and also posting, in the same day" is immense.

The last few posts have been much less fun to write with the knowledge that I can't put it away and finish it tomorrow - even though I didn't make any changes to my previous buffer posts. I still enjoy the process, but the idea that I might have to write through a migraine or something makes it all a bit fraught.

I said at the start that I wasn't planning to do 1-a-day, that I would write what I write and see how I get on, but I also don't want to hammer the RSS feeds so my plan was to write whenever I felt like it and post daily-or-so. But the map can often feel like the territory, so once I've written something I generally don't want to start a new one immediately so it's become daily.

I'll try and get a bit of a buffer built this weekend - I'm not out of ideas yet. I've also yet to dip into my truly low-effort posting well, and I think all my posts so far have been 500+ words? That's my general threshold for "having enough to say to post about it" but the idea was to lower that threshold. This post can be the start of that.

We'll see how the next 3 weeks goes, but I've enjoyed it so far!
